Enfield Town Model Railway ClubRetired or Dismantled Layouts Section The
Ravenby and Kendale Railway - by Brian Kennaby
This is an 'N' gauge layout with working semaphore signals owned and built by Brian Kennaby, a member of the Enfield Town Model Railway Club.
The baseboard was built by my late friend Terry Wright, back in 1996, who was also a member of the club. The layout took approximately two years to complete. It is a fictitious railway located somewhere on the borders of the North Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria, and the name is a combination of The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and my name, Kennaby, to get the name "Ravenby and Kendale".
Some of the buildings are kit built, including the village church which has a speaker beneath it with taped church service and singing coming from it. The rest of the village consists of a baker's shop, a general store, a corner pub and farm cottages in the distance.
The farm buildings also house a riding stable. The lake was made with paint and layers of varnish.
The fisherman's lines are made of human hair and the ducks are made from saltdoe, there are also some boats made from doe. The points are manually operated by pull cable and plastic tubing.
