Services on the garden railway were severely disrupted when the 20:47 from Backford to Bunbury got stuck in a snow drift between Backford and Stanton.

A Heljan class 37 was despatched to clear the permanent way with the aid of the snow plough (see photo below). The snow plough was particularly effective and running resumed a short while later.

News of the snow drift made the front cover of the 'Enfield Town Line' journal shortly after the incident.
