South Branch Terminal - American 'H0' by Tony Minty

South Branch Terminal represents a small freight yard in Chicago USA. Surrounded by warehouses, the layout is compact in design. It is built on two baseboards, each board measuring 3ft 4in x 1ft giving a total length of 6ft 8in. The scale is 'H0' 3.5 mm and Peco code 100 track is used.

Being a small layout it means that small locos of the ‘Switcher’ type are used, mainly steam, but as the time portrayed is the early 1950s a few diesels can also be seen.
The layout can be supported on either trestles or tables, but for convenience in transportation the latter method was used when it was exhibited for the first time at the club's 2006 exhibition.

As I have never been to the area, in fact I have never travelled west of Lands End, a lot of artistic licence has been used in its construction, but I hope I have achieved my aim of building a small portable layout portraying an American city scene from over 50 years ago.
