"St. Paul's Road" - Our Club 'EM' Gauge Layout

Part two.

Part one of this article described the background to this project and showed some pictures of real life situations that could be recreated in model form. Well, construction has started on the four baseboards and an enthusiastic bunch of members seem to work on the new layout almost every week, so it shouldn't be too long before trains are running! As mentioned in part one of this project, the four baseboards will each be 3 feet 9 inches by 18 inches, and will be built almost exclusively of plywood. They will all be scenic and the two end boards will incorporate the upper and lower level fiddle yards respectively. We are using the existing Chasebury trestles for support and members already have sufficient stock to run a full service, so it's full steam ahead.

Checking the alignment

Photos above and below show the current situation. Members can be seen enthusiastically constructing the baseboards. If you would like to help with this project, do come along if you can one Thursday evening and introduce yourself.

The layout boards are starting to take shape

The track plan below is reproduced again on this page so that you can see the outline, and hopefully, if we have got it right, the resemblance with the boards.
